The front page of the crew site is designed to display content specific to whoever is logged in. In addition to your profile summary, a couple of new custom features have been added to help facilitate collaboration by keeping you up to date on your group discussions.

The most recently updated discussions that you’ve joined will be displayed on the front page under Your Discussions. If a new comment has been made since you last viewed the post where the discussion is hosted, a red icon will appear displaying the number of new comments. The first few lines of the latest comment will also be displayed. You can click the title to go to the post, or click the red icon to jump straight to the new comments.

Three discussions will be displayed at once on the front page. If you have more, a pager navigation will appear under the discussion list. Navigating your discussions this way will only refresh that list, keeping you on the front page and leaving the rest of the page unaffected.

If you’ve started a discussion by creating a post, then you’ll be notified when someone adds a comment to it under Your Content. This works much the same way as Your Discussions, displaying the most recently updated discussions and a summary of the latest comment.

If you don’t see one or both of these new sections, you may not have joined or started any discussions yet. Visit a group and get involved!

What Are Groups?

Groups are professional collaboration spaces for ISDC crew members. If you’ve found something interesting, have a question or need help with something, you can create a post with a link, question or request. Other members of the group can respond by commenting on your post, which creates a threaded discussion.

Groups are typically created around a particular area of interest such as a vessel system or professional discipline. If you find a group that interests you, you can subscribe using the link in the top right corner of that group’s main page.

Mission Group

The Mission Group is a general purpose forum for updates and discussion about life in the ISDC and its mission. All new members are automatically added to this group. If you’ve got questions about using the site, comments or suggestions for improvements then the Mission Group is a good place to post them.
