EMDAR

Endeavour’s mission is one of exploration and discovery. In an unknown and distant environment however, the vessel must be able to defend itself if needed. There are already known threats to the ISDC’s mission from other terrestrial deep space programs and potentially other alien species.
What We Do The Tactical Branch is responsible for the defence of the vessel through the operation of weapons and countermeasure systems and for providing detailed and accurate information about the vessel's operating environment
This course covers tactical sensor systems (EMDAR), including underlying theory, basic interpretation techniques and console operation.
The EMDAR Contact Board module allows management of EMDAR contacts. A contact is an untracked EM emissions pattern thought to indicate a Tactically Significant Maneuvering Object (TSMO).
Narrowband EMDAR uses the same passive EM detection system as 
Electromagnetic Direction and Ranging (EMDAR) is a passive sensor technology that detects emissions along the EM spectrum to identify and track other vessels. The system is passive because it does not emit any EM to make its detection (in the way that RADAR does with radio waves).
