Strange New Worlds

The simulator has just been updated to allow Endeavour to travel between star systems. This significantly widens the scope for exploration and means a much greater range of mission scenarios can be supported.

FTL Added to Simulator

A new system allowing Endeavour to visit new star systems has been added to the simulator, vastly increasing the variety and adventure of possible mission scenarios. The FTL Drive is based on key piece of technology recovered from extra-terrestrial vessels.

FTL Drive Module

The FTL drive module controls the operation of the vessel in FTL flight mode, which allows the vessel to achieve relativistic speeds significantly faster than the speed on light.

For the most part FTL flight operations are automated due to navigational complexity. The operator simply selects the star system intended as the destination.

Super useful helm update!

Another really useful update has been made to the impulse maneuver panel, allowing selection of the number of maneuvering cycles that a held bearing lasts for. Once that number of cycles is done, the hold is automatically released.

Martian Star Update

The Martian Star evolution has been updated with a new overview video that incorporates the new Impulse Flight console panel. For a limited time the evolution will be availbale to all members so take a look.

Martian Star Video Update

The video accompanying the Martian Star evolution has been updated to reflect recent changes to gimbal limits, etc in the sim. It also includes the new Impulse Flight panel.

NV-IMP03 Impulse Navigation Panel

Above: Example panel. Click to enlargeThe Impulse Navigation panel assists with the navigation of pre-plotted courses during impulse operations.

The panel consists of a scrollable list of course points and a 2D impulse map displaying the location of the course points, Astronomical Objects (AOs) and the vessel.

Compass Update

The compass has had a minor update, removing the gold indicator circle.

Sim Meetup Video

The last Saturday Meetup was focussed on impulse navigation, so we thought it was a good opportunity to give a quick video tour of the helm.

This Saturday's Meetup Focus

At this week's meetup we'll be re-filming the training video for the 'Martian Star' navigation evolution, which crew use to practise key impulse maneuvering techniques. Drop by to see how it's done or take the helm and give it a go yourself!
