The firewall on this deck is set further aft to accommodate torpedo tubes.
Two torpedo tubes take up the forward half of this deck.
Each torpedo tube has its own loading cranes - one to load the torpedo casing and one to load/insert the munition/mission pack. Up to 24 torpedo casings and packs can be stored for each tube.
Torpedo tubes are designed to function automatically, controlled remotely from the bridge. Auxiliary control rooms for each tube allow manual tube operation where necessary.
Bulk storage areas for ordnance (torpedo casings and munition/mission packs) are referred to as magazines.
This deck has two magazines, each isolated with armoured walls from the rest of the deck in case of internal explosion. Should there be an explosion in this space, exterior panels are designed to detach and blow outwards, allowing the force of the explosion to vent externally.
This deck contains vessel's main cargo storage.
Bulk cargo storage bays are double-height, designed to take standard cargo pods stackable up to three high into the deck two void.
Cargo pods can be loaded directly into these bays via external hatches on the dorsal surface of deck two.
A turntable is built into the deck in front of the cargo lift to allow cargo pods to be reoriented if needed (for example habitation pods).
Two single-height cargo bays provide additional storage for supplies.
The vessel's main impulse engines are monitored and managed from the impulse engine room, located at the aft end of this deck.
