Engineering Training

Engineers are highly specialised technologists, responsible for the maintenance and repair of critical ship systems and the operation of the vessel's power generation and distribution systems.

The engineering branch has one of the widest range of specialisations, reflecting the number of systems aboard the vessel - engineers are responsible for maintaining the systems used by other branches.

Specialisations

The main engineering specialisations are:

Engineer

Engineer is the base engineering specialisation involving the maintenance and repair of all ship systems including:

Power Distribution: Involves the maintenance and repair of the vessel's power distribution networks.

Spaceframe: Involves management and repair of vessel superstructure, specialist mounting components for vessel systems, passive defence systems and environmental systems including artificial gravity, inertial dampening system, atmospheric and recycling systems.

Core Systems: Involves management and repair of the vessel's computing, data distribution infrastructure, communications and sensor systems.

Training

Rating as an engineer requires completion of these training programs:

Generation

Generation is an advanced specialisation working with the vessel's fusion reactor and auxiliary power generation systems.

Propulsion

Propulsion is an advanced specialisation working with the ship's propulsion systems including:

Superluminal Systems: Involves the operation, maintenance and repair of faster-than light (superluminal) propulsion systems.

Magnetoplasma Engines: Involves the operation, maintenance and repair of the vessel's main engines.

Antigravity Propulsion Systems: Involves the maintenance and repair of the antigravity propulsion systems used on shuttles.

Training

Rating as a propulsion specialist requires completion of these training programs:

  • Superluminal Systems
  • Magnetoplasma Engines
  • Antigraivity Propulsion Systems (option)

Weapons Engineering

Weapons engineering involves the maintenance and repair of weapons systems including:

Torpedo Systems: Involves the maintenance and repair of the railguns used to launch torpedoes.

Countermeasure Systems: Involves the maintenance and repair of the vessel's countermeasure systems.

Training

Rating as a weapons engineer requires completion of these training programs:

  • Torpedo Systems
  • Countermeasure Systems
